Kassie Parker and sophomore
Alyssa Pfadenhauer set two school records at the Karl Schlender Invite, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, on Saturday, playing key roles in the Duhawks' team title in addition to 14 event wins.
In her first race after becoming the program's first women's cross country national champion in November, Parker set the pace for the mile and ran away to win by more than 30 seconds, running 4:50.29 which leads Division III by three seconds and smashed her previous school record by eight seconds. The Duhawks took the top-two spots in the race as
Valerie Herbst finished second (5:21.58). Pfadenhauer lowered the previous school record which held since 2011 by nearly two seconds, winning the race in 1:37.24. She also anchored the 4-by-400-meter relay team of
Stevie Lambe,
Elayna Bahl and
Marion Edwards in a 3:56.41 performance to win and rank second in Division III.
Edwards had another strong performance in the 60 and 200-meter dashes, winning both events. She ran 7.74 in the 60-meter dash and ran a personal best and the second-fastest time in program history and nationally in the 200-meter run (25.49).
Kelly Kohlhof added a top-three finish in the 200-meter dash, finishing third and running 26.54. In the 60-meter hurdles, Bahl took the crown, running 9.05, and
Grace Alley finished second, running 9.74. The duo also shared the title in the high jump with
Sara Hoskins, all jumping 1.56-meters.
Ellie Osterberger led a 1-2 finish for the Duhawks in the 800-meter run, winning the race in 2:26.89, and
Frankie Chaidez finished second in her collegiate indoor track debut, running 2:30.82. The 4-by-200-meter relay team of
Harmony Creasy,
Brooke Kruse,
Ali Flatter and
Sophia Schuler won in 1:50.50 and in the long jump,
Morgan Ramirez won with the tenth-farthest jump in program history, going 5.31 meters, and Creasy finished third, jumping 5.20 meters.
In the throwing events,
Kayla Weatherly and
Taylor Flaig were the top-two finishers in the shot put with Weatherly winning the event with a 12.34 meter toss and Flaig throwing 12.10 meters. Flaig took the title in the weight throw, tossing 15.19 meters as the Duhawks took the top-three spots.
Destiny Schwartz was second with a season-best 14.75 meters and Weatherly finished third (14.48 meters).
Loras won the meet with 259 points, putting a 160-point gap on second-place finisher Milwaukee School of Engineering (99.5 points). The host Warhawks finished third with 92 points.
The Duhawks' next meet is set for Saturday, Jan. 29 at the University of Dubuque.
