LINCOLN, Neb. (Oct. 11, 2022) – Playing its second match in as many days, the Loras College women's tennis team (7-5, 3-4 A-R-C) battled back in singles action but came up short at Nebraska Wesleyan University (6-2, 6-2 A-R-C) as the Prairie Wolves pulled away with a 5-4 victory on Sunday.
The Prairie Wolves took an early 2-1 lead in doubles play but
Sara Backus and
Dorothy Deans denied the hosts the doubles sweep with an 8-7 barnburner match against Anna Burt and Kailey Jay-Kissler at the No. 3 spot. Backsu also scored a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles against Ella Ford and
Lauren Diiulio secured her seventh-straight victory at No. 2 singles, defeating Crystal Craft 6-4, 6-2. The Prairie Wolves came away with the win with wins at No. 1, 4 and 5 singles but
Caroline Hutchinson added one more for the Duhawks with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles against Greta Wostoupal.
The Duhawks will wrap up league play and make the short trip up Loras Blvd. for a crosstown American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) matchup with the University of Dubuque on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Matches begin at 3:30 P.M.
