DUBUQUE, Iowa (Oct. 11, 2022) – Loras College's women's tennis team left no doubts on the courts on a rainy Tuesday afternoon as the Duhawks took down the University of Dubuque Spartans 9-0.
The Duhawks (8-4, 4-4 A-R-C) got back in the win column and got back to .500 in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play with a dominating performance versus UD on Tuesday afternoon. It's Loras' sixth straight head-to-head victory over the Spartans.
Loras benefited from one forfeit in each singles and doubles play, but left no doubts on the court en route to a sweep.
Senior
Lauren Diiulio helped lead the way as she earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. It's Diiulio's eighth-straight victory in singles play to move her to 11-2 on the season.
Diiulio's singles match with Alyssa Stevenson was one of the closer matches as each
Sara Backus,
Leia Papanicholas, and
Caroline Hutchinson disposed of their opponents without dropping a game.
Diiulio and fellow senior
Isabel Schwabe teamed up in No. 1 doubles to claim an 8-1 victory that helped set the tone for the rest of the rivalry match.
Tuesday's match concludes the regular season of Loras' fall as the Duhawks will take part in the A-R-C Individual Tournament this coming weekend on Oct. 14-15.
