Oct. 5, 2022 – The best goal scorer in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) was at it again on Wednesday night in Dubuque as Loras College women's soccer senior Ryleigh O'Brien scored both of the Duhawks' goals to lift her team to a 2-0 win over Luther College.

The Duhawks (8-0-3, 2-0-0 A-R-C) dominated time of possession in the game and outshot the Norse (5-4-3, 1-1-1 A-R-C) by a wide 21-6 margin. Loras got one goal from O'Brien in each half to secure its fourth-straight win in the series with Luther.

O'Brien and the Duhawks got a gift from the Norse in the 33^rd minute when the Norse defense misplayed a ball back to their goalkeeper Irelyn Baumberger, who was out near the top of the box. It likely would have been an own goal for the Norse, but O'Brien ran it down near the goal line and tapped home the first goal of the game.

The Duhawks did not allow a Norse shot in the first half and never allowed Luther to build any kind of forward momentum in the opening period.

Loras benefited again in the 53^rd minute when a pass from sophomore defender Reagan Lindsay was partially deflected, but still allowed O'Brien to get a long run down the left side of the field. The senior forward finished the chance with a strike to the near post to beat Baumberger and put the Duhawks up 2-0.

O'Brien's 11 goals lead the A-R-C and make her the first conference player to hit double-digits in that category in 2022.  

Loras is on the road this Saturday, Oct. 8, for a 1 P.M. game versus Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. It will be the first A-R-C road contest for the Duhawks this season.
