MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Dec. 18, 2022) – Sunday afternoon's game lacked the dramatics that Loras College men's basketball team has been accustomed to as of late as a dominating performance from the Duhawks led to an 87-71 road victory over Rhodes College.
The Duhawks (7-3) never trailed in their final game of the Rhodes Holiday Classic on Sunday after taking an early lead over the Lynx (8-2). A 13-0 run for the Duhawks midway through the first half extended the lead into double digits, which is where it stayed through the end of the game.
A three-pointer from sophomore guard
Jared Pearson gave the Duhawks a 41-21 lead in the final four minutes of the first half as the lead ultimately grew to as many as 26 before the halftime break.
That lead held serve for most of the second half as the closest the Lynx could get to the lead was a 13-point margin in the final two minutes of the game.
Junior guard
Ali Sabet put together one of his best games as a Duhawk as he led all scorers with a career-high 30-point performance, which comes just one day after producing a season-low five points against Centre College.
Sabet played a team-high 34 minutes and finished 12-for-21 from the field, including 3-for-7 from behind the arc. The Glenview, Ill. native also finished a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line while adding four assists, three rebounds, and a steal.
Sophomore guard
Tyler Bass stayed hot and added 21 points on a 6-for-10 shooting performance from the field and another perfect day at the free throw line at 8-for-8. Bass added five rebounds and two steals to his line.
Sophomore guard
Alex Singleton (11) and Pearson (10) also scored in double figures to help lift the Duhawks to their fifth straight victory.
The Duhawks return home on Wednesday, Dec. 21 for a 1 P.M. home game against Blackburn College.
