WAVERLY, Iowa (Feb. 5, 2022) – In addition to a strong showing at the Wartburg College Select Meet on Saturday and with two program all-time performances in the 3,000-meter run, No. 2 Loras College men's track and field junior Mike Jasa put his talents on display amidst a Division I field on Saturday, clocking one of Division III's all-time best times at the Notre Dame University Meyo Invitational, resulting in another successful and competitive weekend for the Duhawks.

The defending 800-meter national champion outdoors, Jasa stepped up to the challenge on the big stage, placing third behind runners from the University of Indiana and the University of Illinois with a school-record time of 1:49.45, the first sub-1:50 performance in program history. The Fairfax, Iowa native's time now sits fifth on the NCAA Division III all-time all-conditions list. Jasa put a stronghold on his national-leading mark, sits third in the 400-meter dash and anchors the Duhawks' national-leading 4-by-400-meter relay team.

At Wartburg, Josh Smith finished second in the 60-meter dash, running 6.87 seconds and took the title in the 200-meter dash (22.24). Evan Jamrozy and Joey Schultz added their names to Loras' all-time list in the 3,000-meter run with second and third-place finishes, respectively, with Jamrozy running 8:37.61 which is sixth all-time and Schultz running 8:39.24, good for eighth all-time. Doyle Carroll finished third in the 60-meter dash (6.94) and Carter Oberfoell added a third-place finish in the 800-meter run (1:54.51). Ryan Monson was a top-three finisher in the mile, running 4:30.52 to place third, and Cade Messer finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:54.47. The 4-by-400-meter relay of Ted Kruse, Carson Vaske, Nate Sielaff and Joe Franke placed third with a time of 3:25.77.

In the field events, Ray Venditti tied for first in the pole vault, clearing 4.25 meters, and Holden Murphy finished second in the shot put, throwing 15.01 meters.

The University of Dubuque won the meet by a 1.5 point margin, edging the host Knights with 140.50 points to Wartburg's 139. The Duhawks finished third, scoring 117 points.

Loras heads back to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the Midwest Elite Meet on Saturday, Feb. 12 and will send the distance medley relay to Grand Valley State University in another split weekend.
