WAVERLY, Iowa (Feb. 5, 2022) – With more racing still ahead of her in her final indoor season of her collegiate career, senior
Kassie Parker raced her way to the top of the NCAA Division III all-time, all-conditions list in the 3,000-meter run on Saturday, running the fastest time in Division III history and headlining another successful weekend of competition for the No. 2 Loras College women's track and field team as the Duhawks added three national-leading performances in the split weekend of action at the Wartburg College Select Meet and the University of Notre Dame.
The lone Division III competitor in the field at the University of Notre Dame Meyo Invitational, Parker demolished her previous school record by more than 30 seconds and holds an 18-second edge on the second-ranked runner in Division III this season with the converted time for track size. Her time of 9:13.10 bested the previous record held by Wartburg alumna Missy Buttry, set in 2005 (9:13.13). She finished fourth behind two seniors from the University of Minnesota and a competitor from Notre Dame.
The Duhawks also saw tremendous success in Waverly, clocking two national-leading marks and multiple Loras top-ten all-time performances.
Alyssa Pfadenhauer took the top spot in the nation this season with her school record-setting performance in the 400-meter dash, running 55.95.
Marion Edwards swept the 60 and 200-meter dashes, winning the 60-meter in 7.75 seconds and running the No. 1 time in Division III this season and moving closer to taking down the school record in the 200-meter with a time of 25.27.
Elayna Bahl won the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.97 and the 4-by-400-meter relay team of Edwards, Pfadenhauer,
Stevie Lambe and
Harmony Creasy won with a time of 3:56.03.
Kelly Kohlhof finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.97 and Creasy finished third in the 200-meter dash, running 26.27. Lambe also finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.11.
Brianna Renner ran the seventh-fastest 3,000-meter run time in program history (10:30.00) and
Erin Phelan finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:44.47.
In the field events,
Sara Hoskins and
Grace Alley tied for second in the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters, and Creasy finished second in the long jump with a mark of 5.10 meters.
The full-team effort helped the Duhawks to a second-place team finish behind the host Knights with 146.66 points. The University of Dubuque finished third with 121.83 points.
Loras heads back to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the Midwest Elite Meet on Saturday, Feb. 12 and Parker will compete in the 5,000-meter run at the Iowa State University Classic.
