No. 2 Duhawks Complete Final Tune Up Ahead of National Championship

WAVERLY, Iowa (Mar. 5, 2022) – Splitting the squad between a pair of qualifier meets in the final weekend of the regular season, the No. 2-ranked Loras College men's track and field team found success and multiple all-time performances at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and Wartburg College Qualifiers on Friday and Saturday.

The Duhawks sent its throwers to UW-Platteville on Friday and saw Holden Murphy finish second in the shot put with a heave of 14.23 meters and Neal Eckhoff finished third in the weight throw, throwing 16.99 meters, moving him up to sixth all-time in program history.

At Wartburg on Saturday, Mike Jasa won the 400-meter dash in 49.34 and Wyatt Kelly added his name onto Loras' all-time list in the 800-meter run, finishing third with a time of 1:54.02 to rank seventh in program history. The 4-by-400-meter relay team of Josh Smith, Ted Kruse, Nate Sielaff and Jasa ran the seventh-fastest time in program history with a time of 3:18.26 to cap off the meet.

The Duhawks wrap up the indoor campaign in Winston Salem, N.C. on Mar. 11-12 at the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship. The official national championship field of the top-20 individuals and top-12 relays will be released on Sunday, Mar. 6.
