JACKSON, Wis. (Mar. 6, 2022) – Coming off a win less than 24 hours prior, the Loras College men's tennis team (4-6) went 2-0 over the weekend in Wisconsin, finishing off the trip with 7-2 victory against Wisconsin Lutheran College (5-5) on Sunday.
The Duhawks started off with momentum, sweeping doubles play for a 3-0 lead.
Thomas Kampmier and
Kevin Blomquist defeated Aidan Newberg and Asa White, 8-4, at No. 1 and
Konnor Barth and
Tommy Linkenheld defeated Evan Sadowski and Matt Bass, 8-5, at the No. 2 spot. Sean Gleski and
Nolan Teubel scored an 8-7 win at the No. 3 position.
Wisconsin Lutheran claimed wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots in singles play but the Duhawks did not let them forge a comeback as Loras scored wins at No. 2, 4, 5, and 6. Blomquist won 6-0, 6-2 against Newberg at No. 2 singles and
Kareem Kassas won 6-1, 7-5 against Jon Kannenberg at No. 4. Barth defeated Bass, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 and
Eian Coad came away with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 against Bryce Halvorsen.
The Duhawks host their first match of the spring season on Wednesday, Mar. 9 against Lakeland University at the Tucker Tennis Courts at 2:00 P.M.
