Mar. 9, 2022 – Though the weather forced play to happen indoors, the Loras College men's tennis team (5-6) won its first home match of the spring season and it's third straight on Wednesday, coming away with an 8-1 win against Lakeland University (0-4).
The Duhawks swept doubles action with
Kevin Blomquist and
Thomas Kampmier defeating Jacob Larson and Nick Larson, 8-2, at the No. 1 position and
Eian Coad and
Kareem Kassas winning the No. 2 match against Luke Roe and Evan Vorpahl, 8-0.
Gannon Harrington and
Martin Harrington paired up to defeat Alesssandro Bianchi and Robert Grimes at No. 3, 8-2.
Lakeland's lone win came at the No. 6 position but the Duhawks dominated the other five to take the match. Blomquist defeated N. Larson, 6-1, 6-1 and
Tommy Linkenheld won 6-3, 6-0 against J. Larson at No. 2.
Joe Schneider defeated Vorpahl at No. 3, 6-3, 6-0 and
Nolan Teubel won his match at No. 4 against Roe, 6-0, 6-0.
Jeremiah Allen added another win at No. 5, defeating Robert Grimes, 6-0, 6-0.
Loras is back in action on Saturday, Mar. 12 at Milwaukee School of Engineering. Match play begins at 3:00 P.M.
