JACKSON, Wis. (Mar. 6, 2022) – The Loras College women's tennis team (9-5) had to wait an extra day to get back on the court but the delay did not disrupt the Duhawks as they defeated Wisconsin Lutheran College (9-7) by a score of 7-2 on Sunday.
The Duhawks held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play with
Isabel Schwabe and
Caroline Hutchinson defeated Jena Smith and Katelynn Haskell, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles and
Clair Moore and
Alex Oestreich scored an 8-1 decision against Sky Pope and Haley Olson at No. 3. Schwabe, Moore and Hutchinson each won their singles matches with Schwabe defeating Smith 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, Moore defeating Haskell, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 and Hutchinson going 6-2, 6-3 for a win against Izzy Hawley at No. 3.
Leia Papanicholas took her match at No. 4 to the tiebreaker, ultimately defeating Ali Schmidt 6-3, 0-6, 10-3 and
Mariana Bayona Paez won her match at No. 6 against Olson, 6-0, 6-1.
Loras is back in action on Sunday, Mar. 13 at Milwaukee School of Engineering in Racine, Wis. at 10:00 A.M.
