Apr. 13, 2022 – The No. 9 Loras College men's track and field team had the opportunity to compete at home on Wednesday and made the most of it despite howling wind and freezing rain, coming away with multiple event winners and excellent performances at the Easter Midweek Meet inside the Rock Bowl.
Brandon Doser and
Ethan Hammerand turned in a 1-2 finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Doser finished first with a time of 9:57.69 and Hammerand ran 10:11.01 to finish second.
Ryan Harvey won the 1,500-meter run by more than 13 seconds, running 3:50.32 and ranking seventh in Division III this season.
Carlo Dannenfelser added a third-place finish in the event, running 4:05.65.
Ted Kruse won the 400-meter dash, running 49.66,
Josh Smith won the 100-meter dash in 10.86 and
Ryan Monson finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.16.
Dayvion Foreman was a top-three finisher in the 200-meter dash, placing third with a time of 22.38 and the 4-by-400-meter relay of Harvey, Monson,
Chris Guise, and
Elliot Frideres finished second with a time of 3:37.26. The Duhawks also took the top-six spots in the 5,000-meter run, led by
Julian Watson running 15:24.34,
Seth Corrigan in second with a time of 15:26.46 and
Cade Messer finishing third in 15:35.54.
In the field events,
Matt Bandy won the high jump, clearing 1.90 meters and Raymond Venditti won the pole vault with a height of 4.60 meters, ranking seventh in program history.
Doyle Carroll finished third in the long jump with a leap of 6.55 meters and
Derik Bunten finished third in the triple jump (13.36 meters). For the second meet in a row,
Holden Murphy won the discus with a throw of 47.12 meters and finished second in the javelin (49.04 meters).
Neal Eckhoff added a third-place finish in the hammer throw, throwing 47.83 meters.Â
The Duhawks will compete at Augustana College on Saturday, Apr. 23 at the Meet of Champions.
