Holden Murphy and
Ray Venditti won individual titles at the 2022 American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by the Duhawks at the Rock Bowl and Faber Clark Field on Saturday as the Duhawks collected 19 All-Conference awards and finished third in the team race.
Ryan Rogers collected a pair of All-Conference finishes in his final conference meet with a third-place finish in the decathlon, scoring 6,258 points and ranking 18th in Division III. Over the course of Thursday and Friday's competition, he ran 11.16 in the 100-meter dash and won the long jump with a leap of 6.84 meters before throwing 12.18 meters in the shot put. He cleared 1.91 meters in the high jump, ran 51.24 in the 400-meter dash and set a championship record 14.90 in the 110-meter hurdles. He added a throw of 47.87 meters in the javelin to win the event and ran 4:57.00 for 1,500-meters to cap off the ten-events. Rogers also finished second in the pole vault, clearing 4.46 meters. Venditti took home the title based on clears, winning with a jump of 4.46 meters, his first conference title.
Murphy was the top-competitor in the javelin, throwing 51.10 meters to win the event and added a third-place finish in the hammer throw, throwing 53.32 meters. In his final outdoor championship,
Matt Bandy finished second in the high jump, clearing 2.01 meters and earning All-Conference honors.
The Duhawks posted a 2-3-4-5 finish in the 1,500-meter run, led by
Mike Jasa placing second with a time of 3:47.70, ranking 15th in Division III and
Ryan Harvey, already ranked 14th in the nation, placed third with a time of 3:48.76. Harvey added another All-Conference finish in the 800-meter run, placing third and moving up to No. 17 in the event with a time of 1:51.40 and
Carter Oberfoell finished second in 1:51.24.
Josh Smith finished third in the 100-meter dash, running 10.65, and
Ted Kruse placed third in the 400-meter hurdles, running 54.73. Loras' relays added All-Conference nods with the 4-by-100-meter relay of De'Andre Kelin,
Elijah Thomas,
Derik Bunten and Smith placing third with a time of 42.06 and the 4-by-400-meter relay of
Carson Vaske,
Nate Sielaff, Oberfoell and Kruse finishing third in 3:21.53.
At a meet featuring three of the nation's top-25 teams, the No. 12-ranked University of Dubuque won the team title with 171 points while No. 13 Wartburg College finished second with 159 points. Loras took third overall with 141 points.
The Duhawks will compete at the last chance meets in the coming week, heading to Augustana College and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Thursday, Apr. 19 for the final push to secure NCAA Division III National Championship qualifying marks.
