May 9, 2022 - Closing out their regular season with the No. 2 seed in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament, the RV Loras College baseball team's (31-9, 15-9 A-R-C) Ethan Peters garnered Pitcher of the Week honors after a stellar performance on the mound against Simpson College. Joining Peters is the Loras College men's track and field team's Mike Jasa, who rewrote the history books on Saturday at the Dr. Tucker Meet, running the fastest time in NCAA Division III this season in the 800-meter run.

Peters, a senior left-hander helped the Duhawks take a pair of games from the Storm on Saturday to lock up the No. 2 seed in the postseason, marking the highest seed in the tournament since the 2009 season when the Duhawks took the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) regular season crown. The senior closer earned a win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, closing out the final inning of the game by striking out three of the four batters he faced to pave the way for Dylan Pardoe to poke an RBI single into right center field for the walk-off victory. Game two of the day saw Peters collect his 13th save of the season, tossing a pair of innings while striking out four of the six batters he faced, keeping opponents with a clean .000 batting average against him. Peters's save on Saturday catapulted him atop the Division III leader board with the most saves in the country. The Pitcher of the Week honor comes as the career saves record-holder's third of the season thus far.

Jasa, a junior from Fairfax, Iowa, continued to cement himself in the NCAA history books, running the 12th fastest time in Division III history with his 1:48.70 time in the 800-meter run at Saturday's Dr. Tucker Meet. The sub 1:50 performance comes as Jasa's second of his career in the event and was quick enough to set a new program record. The junior also played a key role in the Duhawks' success in the 4-by-400 relay, anchoring the team that posted a 3:18.11 time to take first in the event. The honor comes as his second-career Outdoor Track Performer of the Week while in addition to being on the 4-by-800 meter relay teams that have received the honor twice this season.

Both baseball and track and field teams are set to compete in their respective A-R-C Championships this weekend, with baseball making the trip to Cedar Rapids on Thursday while the Conference track meet is being hosted by Loras College. The meet is set to run from May 12-14 on the campus of Loras College.
