Sept. 27, 2022 – The Loras College women's tennis team (4-4, 0-3 A-R-C) dropped a hard-fought American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) bout against Wartburg College (5-2, 2-1 A-R-C) on Tuesday, falling 5-4 to the Knights.
The Duhawks won the first match of the afternoon at No. 1 doubles as the pair of
Isabel Schwabe and
Lauren Diiulio defeated Meadow LaDuke and Natalie Kaiser, 8-4. The Knights took the No. 2 and 3 matches for an early lead but
Sara Backus tied it up with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles against Emma Thurness. The Knights locked up the match with wins at No. 1, 3 and 5 singles but the Duhawks made sure it was close as Diiulio secured a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 2 singles against Kaiser and
Leia Papanicholas defeated Gracie O'Donnell 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.
The Duhawks head west for an A-R-C double header on Saturday, Oct. 1, taking on Simpson College in Indianola in the morning and heading to Central College in Pella in the afternoon.
