BELOIT, Wis. - The Loras College women's volleyball team defeated Beloit College in three sets Wednesday night inside Flood Arena.
Loras (9-12 overall, 0-3 A-R-C) came out of the gate strong, taking an early 6-2 lead over the Buccaneers in the first set. The Buccaneers were able to cut the Duhawk lead to two before the Duhawks rattled off seven straight points to give them a 16-7 lead. After some back-and-forth play, the Duhawks used a 5-0 run to give them a dominant 25-10 first set win.
Much like set one, the Purple and Gold opened the second set with a 6-2 run. However, a late 3-0 run by Beloit saw the Buccaneers cut the lead to three late in the set. The Duhawks would respond and win a hard fought second set 25-20.
Beloit (1-14 overall, 0-2 Midwest) was able to keep things close early in the third set before Loras went on a 5-1 run that would see them regain control. Loras led by as many as 13 at one point to complete the sweep and win the set 25-13.

Sophie Younkin, who ended the night with a game-high 10 kills.
Jenna Gianoli added nine kills and Elania Schroeder pitched in eight kills and a block.
Sara Hoskins tallied 30 assists on the night and added 14 digs and two blocks. As a team, Loras hit .379, which was good enough for 45 total kills.
Beloit was led by Jasmin Bowers, Abbie Schmidt, and Naomi Murphy who each had four kills on the night. Schmidt also added 10 assists and a block to her stat line.
Up Next: The Duhawks travel to Wartburg College on Oct. 18
th to take on the Knights. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
