DUBUQUE, Iowa – Despite a strong first half, Loras fell on Homecoming to Central College, 38-14, on Saturday afternoon inside the Rock Bowl.
The Dutch (5-1 overall, 3-1 A-R-C) struck first when quarterback Hunter Hoffman found Jeff Herbers for a 10 yard score with 4:53 remaining in the first quarter. The Duhawks responded with a six-play, 57-yard drive that cumulated in a 21-yard touchdown pass from EvanEngland to '

Central regained its lead with 3:45 to play in the half when Hoffman found wideout Ryan Neu for a 33-yard score, but Loras answered right back with a 10-play, 75-yard drive of its own that was topped off with the second touchdown connection of England and Brown on the day with 24 seconds on the clock.
The Dutch would go on to score 24-straight over the second half to close out the victory.
England finished the day 41-of-57 passing for 372 yards and two touchdowns to two interceptions. On the ground,
Jamel Britt had 37 yards rushing, followed by
Johnnie Cason II at 18. Brown had a season-high 159 receiving yards to go along with his two scores, the ninth and 10
th of the year for the junior out of Fort Meyers, Fla.
Defensively,
Andrew Hefel led the Duhawks with nine total tackles, followed by
Brandon Phelps and
Josh Rydberg with seven each.
Jonah Clark had a team-high 2.5 tackles for loss, pushing Central back 10 yards.
Max Terlap and
Milo Collier each recorded a sack, the first of the season for the pair.
Looking ahead, the Duhawks return to action next Saturday, Oct. 14 at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
