RIPON, Wis. – The Loras College women's volleyball team closed out their regular season with a 3-2 victory over Ripon College Saturday afternoon.
After dropping set one 27-25, the Duhawks raced out to a 9-1 lead in set two. Loras (13-15 overall, 3-5 A-R-C) would continue to control the set and win it 25-16. In set three, it was Ripon (10-19 overall, 3-5 Midwest) who jumped out to a 10-4 lead. The Duhawks were unable to put a comeback together and would lose the set 25-11. The Purple and Gold would go on and win set four 25-18 to force a fifth set. Trailing 11-8 in set five, Loras would use a 7-1 run to win the set 15-12.
Loras was led by
Sophie Younkin who had 14 kills.
Alexis Woltman and
Jenna Gianoli followed with nine kills each, while Gianoli also contributed four blocks on the afternoon.
Sara Hoskins tallied 35 assists to lead the Duhawks. Paris Croker led the Redhawks with 12 kills, while Lydia Ellis and Eliie Ove each added 10.
Up Next: Loras will begin conference tournament play as they travel to Coe College on Tuesday Nov. 7. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
