PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (April 15, 2023) – Another strong outing from the second-ranked Loras College women's track & field team produced a runner-up team finish at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invite on Friday.
The Duhawks tallied 166 total points to finish second behind the fourth-ranked University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with 222 points.
Graduate student
Gabrielle Noland was a massive presence for the Duhawks on Friday as she took the top spot in two individual races and helped earn the 4x100-meter relay team a runner-up finish. Noland was first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.91, just ahead of senior
Marion Edwards in second place with an 11.93. Those times respectively rank the Duhawk duo seventh and eighth in Division III this season.
Noland also took the top spot in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.31, which is the second-best time in Division III. That wasn't it for Noland as she and Edwards teamed up with sophomore
Harmony Creasy and senior
Alyssa Pfadenhauer in the 4x100-meter relay. Those four clocked a 46.70 time that is now second-best nationally in 2023.
The senor Pfadenhauer added a win to her meet resume as well a she fished off the winning effort for the 4x400-meter relay team. Sophomore
Aaliyah Collier, junior
Kelly Kohlhof, and senior
Grace Alley led the way as the quartet ran a 3:56.08, which is seventh nationally and the second-best time for a Loras 4x400-meter team this season.
Collier claimed the other track win for the Duhawks as she took the top spot in the 400-meter field with a time of 58.01. Senior
Stevie Lambe was right on her heels and finished second with a 58.09.
Other runner-up finishes on the track included Alley's 15.71 time in the 100-meter hurdles and senior
Brianna Renner clocking an 11:07.96 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Seniors
Ellie Osterberger (4
th – 11:37.91) and
Kaylee Osterberger (11:41.94) were not far behind Renner and finished fourth and fifth in the race.
Loras' best field finish came from junior
De'ja Austin-Cherry in the triple jump as she earned a second-place finish with a mark of 11.53 meters. She was also fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.52 meters while Collier and Alley tied for third in the high jump with best clearances of 1.67 meters, ranking them in a tie for eighth in Division III.
Loras will be in action again next weekend on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22, at the Augustana College Meet of Champions in Rock Island, Ill.
