DECORAH, Iowa (April 22, 2023) – Loras College men's tennis battled some frigid temperatures while facing off with the top team in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) on Friday afternoon as the Duhawks fell 5-0 to Luther College to start a busy weekend of action.
The Duhawks (10-7, 2-4 A-R-C) traveled to play the Norse (16-7, 8-0 A-R-C) on Friday, but it was all Luther as the home team clinched its second straight A-R-C regular season title with the win to finish off a perfect 8-0 campaign in league play.
At the conclusion of doubles play, the Norse held a 3-0 lead in the match with results of 8-6, 8-3, and 8-1 in their favor. The No. 1 doubles tandem of senior
Kevin Blomquist and junior
Thomas Kampmier put of the strongest test for the Duhawks with their narrow 8-6 defeat.
The match would only go until clinch because of the frigid temperatures, and the Norse nabbed a pair of quick wins at No. 3 and 6 singles to put the finishing touches on the match and their impressive regular season.
Loras will get two more chances to bounce back this weekend, starting on Saturday at 1 P.M. versus Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Duhawks have won six straight matches with the Beavers, including each of the last two by 9-0 finals.
