Loras College Welcomes Andrea Cannon and Brandon Lindholm to Athletic Communications Staff

July 19, 2023

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College Department of Athletics has announced the hirings of Andrea Cannon as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and Brandon Lindholm as the Director of Athletic Communications.

"I'm looking forward to Brandon leading our Athletic Communications office," said Loras College Director of Athletics Denise Udelhofen. "His experience and background were impressive in the interview process. Andrea comes to Loras as a highly recommended young professional in the athletic communications field. Brandon and Andrea's energy and passion for their area is evident in just the few days they have joined us."

A native of Mount Prospect, Ill., Cannon attended the University of Illinois, where she majored in journalism as an undergraduate. While at Illinois, she worked as a student-intern for Fighting Illini Productions, where she held broadcast responsibilities and represented the Illini video department in contests on the road, before graduating in May of 2021.

Following graduation, Cannon accepted an Athletic Communications graduate assistantship with Elmhurst University. At Elmhurst, Cannon oversaw media relations and statistics for eight Bluejay varsity programs, including men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, women's basketball, bowling, cross country, and track & field. Media relation responsibilities for those teams included writing recaps, updating biographies and rosters, overseeing student workers, designing graphics, and managing social media channels.

Outside of her collegiate athletic responsibilities with Elmhurst, she worked with John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Ill., as a coach for the girls' basketball team. Cannon graduated from Elmhurst in May with a master's degree in business administration.

"I want to thank Denise Udelhofen for this opportunity," Cannon said. "I am so excited to be a part of the Duhawk family and look forward to collaborating with coaches and student-athletes to promote the Loras College programs."

Cannon resides in Dubuque with her dog, Luna.

Lindholm joins Loras after working the previous two years as an Athletics Compliance Administrator at NAIA institution Clarke University. At Clarke, he oversaw eligibility and student-athlete academic progress for the university's 17 varsity athletic programs. In addition to his responsibilities in compliance, he also assisted the sports information department and held responsibilities as the primary contact for the Pride football program.

Prior to Clarke, Lindholm earned his master's degree at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where he worked as a graduate assistant in the Saluki Media Services Department. In that role, he assisted with media coverage for all 15 NCAA Division I athletic programs, but held primary responsibilities in cross country, track & field, women's soccer, men's golf, and was the secondary contact for the football program.

His previous stops include working as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, during the 2018-19 academic year, and two stints with the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. While at Wartburg, he held primary media relations responsibilities for baseball, men's basketball, cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis, and track & field. With the Chiefs, he served as a training camp intern during the summer of 2017 before working as Communications Assistant on game days during the 2018 season.

Lindholm graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in December 2017 with a bachelor's degree in corporate & health communications. While at UWW, Lindholm was a student assistant for the Warhawk Sports Information Department.

"I couldn't be more excited about this opportunity to join a school and athletic department that I've respected for some time," Lindholm remarked. "Division III athletics is where I got my start and grew up in this profession. I believe that Loras is getting two staff members who are willing to go the extra mile to show what makes this campus, our coaching staff, and athletic tradition so special."

A native of Mineral Point, Wis., Brandon currently resides in Dubuque with his fiancé, Emily, and their two dogs, Sawyer and Shadow.
