DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's tennis team travels to Plainfield, Ill., Saturday, August 26 to open its 2023 campaign at the North Central Invitational.
The Duhawks will take on the Illinois institute of Technology Scarlett Hawks first at 12:00 p.m. before facing off against the host, North Central College, at 3:00 p.m.
"Our returning players have shown a lot of excitement and I believe they are eager to take the next step and fill bigger roles than they were asked last season," said head coach Cam Long. "We've had some very competitive practices thus far, and it is my hope to continue learning, getting better, and building momentum throughout this fall."
Saturday will mark the first time in program history that Loras will compete against the Scarlett Hawks. The Cardinals of North Central came out on top in the one previous contest with the Duhawks back in 2014.
"
Clair Moore,
Dorothy Deans,
Caroline Hutchinson and
Leia Papanicholas all got significant playing time in both singles and doubles in the past," said Long. "I envision them being a big part of our team this season as well. Our underclassmen will be able to learn from their leadership and continue to improve."
The Duhawks return home to host Monmouth College on Sept.1 at 5:00 p.m. at the Tucker Tennis Courts.
