DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Loras College men's tennis team fell, 5-2, in its first match of the fall season to Saint Ambrose University on Saturday morning.
Sean Gelski and
Diego Hernandez Arrazate garnered the sole doubles victory for the Duhawks, defeating Connor Leibforth and Marcus Lang, 6-4, in the No. 3 spot.
Gage Becker came up short at No. 1 singles, falling 6-2, 3-6 and 10-4 in the tiebreaker to Brian Lelm.
Thomas Kampmier and
Kareem Kassas both suffered losses at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, despite sending them into tiebreakers, which gave the Bees (2-1 overall) a 4-0 advantage with three more matches to play. Gelski hung on at No. 5 singles to defeat Leibforth 7-5, 5-7 and 10-6 in the tiebreaker, while
Henry Condo tallied the final Loras (0-1 overall) point with a decisive 6-1 and 6-1 win over Marcus Lang.
