INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Loras College women's tennis team added another tally to the win column with a 9-0 win over Simpson College on Friday evening.
Mary Breitbach and
Dorothy Deans earned the first win in doubles play by taking down Savana Walls and Grace Peck 8-1. At No. 2 doubles,
Caroline Hutchinson and
Leia Papanicholas handled Bella Tranquilino and Anna Schewe by a score of 8-4, while
Clair Moore and
Ellie Kalina secured the final doubles win in the No. 3 spot with an 8-3 victory over Coilee Hynek and Maddie Haskell.
In singles play, Breitbach soundly defeated Tranquilino 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Deans came out on top against Walls in the No. 2 spot with scores of 6-3 and 6-1. Hutchinson and Moore earned wins at No.3 and 4 singles, defeating Peck 6-4, 6-1 and Haskell 6-0, 6-1 respectively. Papanicholas handed Hynek a loss at No.5 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-3, while
Jessie Yelaska tallied the final win for the Duhawks to complete the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Korynna Olson.
The Duhawks hold a 6-1 overall record so far this season and an unblemished 3-0 mark in the American Rivers Conference.
