PELLA, Iowa – The Loras College women's tennis team continued its winning ways with an 8-1 victory over Central College on Saturday morning.
Mary Breitbach and
Dorothy Deans dominated at No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 win over Jennifer Larson and Madi Whalen.
Caroline Hutchinson and
Leia Papanicholas took care of business in the No. 2 spot with an 8-2 victory over Jenna Hernandez and Becca Vala. Emma Murphy and Lauren Gano handed
Clair Moore and
Ellie Kalina the sole Duhawk loss in doubles play by a score of 2-8.
The Duhawks swept the Dutch in singles play with Breitbach leading the way in the No.1 spot with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Larson. Deans handled Whalen at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-4, 6-4, while Hutchinson outlasted Hernandez at No.3 singles taking the match with scores 7-6, 4-6 and 10-8 in the tiebreaker. Moore persevered at No.4 doubles to come out on top against Jenna Mahoney posting scores of 6-3, 5-7 and 10-4 in the tiebreaker. Papanicholas and Kalina defeated Vala 6-4, 6-0 and Alli Kreider 5-7, 6-4, 12-10 respectively at No. 5 and 6 singles to secure the Duhawks fourth A-R-C victory of the season.
Loras improves to 7-1 overall and boasts a 4-0 mark in conference play so far this season.
