No. 25 Duhawks Welcome in No. 19 Prairie Wolves

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The No. 25 Loras College Duhawks look to rebound after having its 13 game win streak snapped when the No. 19 Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves come to town on Saturday, Jan. 27. Tip from the Lillis Athletic & Wellness Center is set for 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Loras is coming off an 84-73 loss to No. 23 Coe College on Wednesday, the program's first loss since Nov. 21, 2023. Ali Sabet scored 21 points, while Jackson Molstead pitched in 16 with four early three pointers.
The Duhawks the ball over 17 times and struggled to find offensive rhythm in the second half en route to the program's second loss of the season - both of which have come against Coe. 

Cael Schmitt led the way for the Kohawks with 21 points, while TJ Schnurr added in 18.

The Duhawks led 51-43 with 14:25 to play, but an 11-2 run fueled by Schnurr and Schmitt swung the momentum back in Coe's favor. The two teams battled back and forth over the following five minutes, but the whistle became a factor as Loras was called for 12 second half fouls.

As a team, the Purple and Gold finished the night shooting 46.8 percent (29-for-62) from the floor, but Coe held the advantage at 54 percent (34-for-63). Loras led the rebound battle at a margin of 36-31.
 
ABOUT THE DUHAWKS
Loras enters Saturday's game with a record of 15-2, including a 6-2 mark in the A-R-C. The team averages 88.3 points per game, which stands as the 11th-most in the NCAA this season. Limiting its opponents to 71.9 points, the scoring margin of 16.4 points is the seventh-best in Division III.

Sabet leads the team in scoring at 18.9 points per game and is the nation's leader in free throw percentage at 94.3 percent. Molstead is second on the squad in scoring with 13.6, followed by Haynes at 13.1 and Bass at 11.2. Haynes' 71.3 percent shooting from the field isn't just the best in the American Rivers, but also stands as No. 1 in the nation.

Bass pulls in 7.1 rebounds per game, a mark that stands as the best on the team. Trailing Bass is Haynes at six, followed by Myles Barry with 5.3. Molstead leads the team in assists with 71 with Sabet in second at 53.

SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
The Prairie Wolves enter Saturday's contest as the No. 2 overall team in the A-R-C with a record of 17-2, including an 8-2 mark in conference play. While their offense stands middle of the pack in the conference (5th / 78.9 points per game), the program's defense is top-three is points allowed (3rd / 67 ppg), turnovers forces (1st / 17 per game), and steals (1st / 10.5 per game). Another area the team excels in is on the offensive glass, an area NWU dominates with 12.63 offensive rebounds per game.

Junior guard Peter Lash leads the team in scoring at 18.1 points per game, followed by junior guard Carter Glenn (15.6 ppg) and junior forward Jack Groeteke (12 ppg). Groeteke leads the A-R-C in blocks per game (1.63), while Glenn is the conference leader in steals, averaging 2.95 per contest.

Lash leads the team in rebounding at eight per game, followed by Groeteke at 6.1. Glenn has a team-high 73 assists, 32 more than any other player on NWU's roster.

A-R-C IMPLICATIONS
NWU jumped the Duhawks in the standings after Wednesday night's loss, but a win on Saturday would push the Duhawks back in the No. 2 spot of the conference standings due to conference win percentage and would give Loras a season-sweep over the Prairie Wolves.
 
THE SERIES
Since 2017, NWU owns the series record at 9-6. The last time the two teams met was on Dec. 9, 2023 – an 89-76 victory for Loras, which snapped a two-game skid.
