DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against crosstown rival, University of Dubuque, Saturday afternoon.
Defense was the star of the show in the first half as both teams struggled to put shots on goal. Loras (6-3-6 overall, 2-0-1 A-R-C) managed two shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, while the University of Dubuque (4-7-2, 1-2-1) placed four shots on frame.
With both teams looking to get on the scoreboard,
Reed Miklavcic fired a shot on goal just 13 seconds into the second half that was saved by Dubuque's goalkeeper, Matt Marchiori. The Spartans had their best chance of the match when they were awarded back-to-back corner kicks at the 54:51 and 55:38 marks, but were unable to capitalize.
The University of Dubuque held the shot advantage, out shooting the Duhawks 14-6, with both teams putting four shots on goal.
Ben Krogman earned the 90-minute shutout for Loras, recording three saves, while Marchiori recorded the shutout for UD with four saves.
Up Next: Loras will return to the Rock Bowl on Oct. 15 to host the Wartburg College Knights. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
