DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's volleyball team registered its second win of the week with a 3-1 victory over Ripon College on Friday evening.
The Purple and Gold handled the Red Hawks in the opening set, breaking the final tie at 3-3 with a 3-0 run to take a 6-3 lead. The Duhawks only extended their lead from that point on and ultimately took the set by a score of 25-16.
Loras (12-11, 1-2 A-R-C) took control of set two after rattling off 10 consecutive points to hold a 13-4 advantage over the visitors. The Duhawks continued their dominance for the rest of the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-9 set two victory.
Ripon (7-13, 0-4 Midwest) avoided the sweep with a 25-20 set three win after breaking a 16-16 tie with a 9-4 run.
In the fourth set, a kill from
Cat Meyer and a service ace from
Sara Hoskins gave the Duhawks the lead (8-6) that they would maintain for the remainder of the set. Loras grabbed the set four win to take the match by a score of 25-16.
Patrycja Jarzabek led the Purple and Gold offensively with 10 kills.
Kyra Kuehn added in eight kills, while
Autumn Finch blocked 10 Red Hawk attack attempts.
Sara Hoskins handed out 26 assists, which made her the second player in program history to amass 4,000 career assists. As a team, Loras hit .155, finishing with 38 kills and 18 errors in 129 attempts.
