DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's basketball team secured an 84-76 win over The University of Olivet on the final day of the Loras Tip-Off Classic inside the Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center.

The Duhawks raced out to an 11-0 lead, causing Olivet (1-1 overall) to call two timeouts in the first four minutes of play in an attempt to slow the Loras (2-0) offense. The Purple and Gold led by as many as 16 multiple times throughout the first half and headed into the locker room at the break with a 14-point advantage (48-34).

Nolan Finkbeiner helped the Comets cut the Duhawks lead to single digits (81-73 and 84-76) twice in the final 35 seconds with back-to-back three pointers, but it was too little too late.

Tyler Bass recorded his second consecutive double-double of the season, finishing with 25 points and 11 rebounds on the night. The Washington, Ill. native tied his career-high points after shooting 7-of-11 from the floor and 11-of-14 from the foul line. Jared Pearson totaled 21 points, 12 of which came from behind the arc, while Alex Singleton rounded out the double-digit Duhawks with 10 point and seven boards. As a team, Loras shot 44.1 percent (26-of-59) from the field and 75.8 percent (25-of-33) from the charity stripe.

The Comets were led by Conner Schipper who finished with 22 points, while Nathan Richardson and Evan Honnen added 16 and 12 points respectively. Olivet shot 44.6 percent (29-of-65) from the floor and 40.9 percent (9-of-22) from downtown.

Up Next: The Duhawks welcome the Northland College Lumberjacks to Lillis Court for a nonconference showdown on Sunday, Nov. 17. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
