PELLA, Iowa – The Loras College football team dropped its week eight matchup with Central College, 45-7, on Saturday afternoon.
Quarterback
Joey Helminiak completed 17 passing attempts for 138 yards and one touchdown.
Justin Stephens led the Duhawks running attack, totaling 72 yards on 19 attempts, while
Carter Cahill followed closely behind with 56 yards on 12 attempts.
Brock Couch hauled in a team-high six receptions for 61 yards, while
Jaheem Haynes had three catches for 44 yards and one touchdown.
On defense,
Brandon Phelps led the Purple and Gold with 12 tackles and added an interception to his stat line.
Niko Jemilo followed Phelps with nine tackles.
Loras (1-7 overall, 1-5 A-R-C) scored the game's first points as Helminiak connected with Haynes for a 21-yard touchdown pass. Central (7-2, 5-1) would score 28 points in the second quarter, followed by a 17-point third quarter to put the game out of reach.
