Women's Volleyball Posts 1-1 Record in Pair of Conference Road Matches

STORM LAKE, Iowa/LINCOLN, Neb. – The Loras College women's volleyball team split a pair of conference road matches against Buena Vista University and Nebraska Wesleyan University on Friday and Saturday respectively.

The Duhawks topped the Beavers in five sets, before coming up short against the Prairie Wolves, 3-1.

  • The Duhawks dominated in the opening set, breaking the final tie at 3-3 with a 5-0 run to take a lead they would hold onto and extend over the course of the set. The Purple and Gold held a 1-0 advantage in the match with a 25-12 set one victory.
  •  The Beavers came out on top in the second set, erasing the Duhawks 19-17 lead with a five-point run to gain a 22-19 lead. Despite Loras tying things up again at 23-23, the home team secured the final two points of the set to earn a 25-23 set two win.
  • Loras rattled off six straight points to take a 9-5 lead early on in set three. Buena Vista knotted the score up at 10-10 and 11-11, but the Duhawks responded with a 7-1 run to increase their lead to six (18-12). The Purple and Gold earned the set three win by a score of 25-16.
  • The Beavers broke the final tie at 21-21 with a 4-1 run, taking the set 25-22 following a block from Peyton Ogle.
  • The Duhawks created separation in the final set with a 6-1 run to take a 9-4 lead. A kill from Autumn Finch sealed the 15-10 set five and match victory for Loras.

  • The Prairie Wolves raced out to a 6-1 lead and never looked back. Nebraska Wesleyan maintained the lead for the remainder of the opening set, taking set one by a score of 25-18.
  • The tables turned in favor of the Duhawks in set two with Loras taking an 11-5 lead early on. The home team closed the gap and tied things up three times late in the set. Loras rattled off four straight points to earn a 25-21 set two victory.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan grabbed victories in sets three and four by scores of 26-24 and 25-20 respectively to take the match.
