DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's basketball team secured a 90-79 victory over Lakeland University on Friday afternoon.

After a back-and-forth first half that featured three ties and 12 lead changes, both squads headed into the locker room with the score knotted at 42-42.

A three-pointer from Nolan Berendes with 14:14 left to play put Loras (7-2, 2-0 A-R-C) back in front (58-56), where it would stay for the rest of the contest. The Duhawks extended their lead to as many as 15 (87-72) with just under three minutes remaining to earn their seventh win of the season.

The Purple and Gold led a balanced offensive attack with Jack Haynes and Jared Pearson finishing with 20 points apiece. Gavin Sarvis and Tyler Bass followed closely behind with 15 and 14 points respectively, while Alex Singleton contributed 12 points off the bench. The Duhawks shot 56.1 percent (32-of-57) from the floor and made the most of their time at the foul line shooting 71.9 percent (23-of-32).

Jaxson Dillon led the way for Lakeland (2-9, 2-3 NACC) with a game-high 33 points. Emmitt Konieczny and Parker Braun also finished in double figures for the Muskies with 12 and 10 points respectively.

Up Next: The Duhawks welcome a trio of teams to Lillis Court for the Loras Holiday Classic on Dec. 28-29. The Purple and Gold will take on the Alma College Scots first on Saturday at 6 p.m.
