NEW ORLEANS, La. - The week four National Ratings Index by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) have been published, and both the Loras College men's and women's track and field programs appear in the top-15 teams. The Duhawk women are standing pat at No. 2, while the men moved up four spots to No. 12.
For Loras' women, the Duhawks have seven top-10 marks, with six falling in the top-five.
Grace Alley leads the country in two events, with the first being her high jump mark of 1.75 meters (5-8.75) and the second being her record-breaking mark of 3,986 points in the pentathlon.
Emma Seipel also is a national leader in the long jump with her mark of 6.08 meters (19-11.5).
On the men's side, four Duhawks hold top-10 marks nationally with
Ryan Harvey leading the way with his time of 4:05.04c (converted) in the mile – which ranks fourth in the nation.
Holden Murphy is fifth with his weight throw mark of 19.52 meters (64-0.5), while
Derik Bunten is seventh in the long jump at 7.21 meters (23-8).
Joe Franke closes out top-10 marks with his time of 1:51.63c (converted) in the 800 meter race – good for ninth.
Up next for the Purple and Gold is another split weekend, with a majority of the team heading to La Crosse, Wis. to take part in the UW-La Crosse Invitational on Friday, Feb. 16. Action gets underway from the UWL Fieldhouse at 3 p.m. Select members will head to the University of Dubuque for the annual Sol Butler Classic, which is set to get underway from A.Y. McDonald around 2 p.m.
