BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Loras College track and field program wrapped up competition at the IWU Keck Select Indoor Invitational, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University, on Saturday. The No. 2 women finished third among 10 competing teams with 101 team points, followed by the No. 11 men in fourth out of nine teams with 58.5 team points.
The women's team claimed four events, while the men were victorious in two.
On the men's side,
Ryan Harvey placed first in the 3000 meter race after clocking in at 8:31.44.
Jacob Belha finished the race at 8:38.18, which moved him up to ninth all-time at Loras.
In the triple jump,
Rei'Shaun Spires leapt for 45' 7.25" (13.9m), which won the event.
Joe Franke finished second in the 800 meter, crossing the finish line at 1:55.22.
Over in the weight throw,
Holden Murphy extended his school record distance by throwing for 64' 0.5" (19.52m), placing him second in the event. The mark stands as the fifth-best in the NCAA Division III this season.
For the women,
Grace Alley won a pair of events, highlighted by her first place finish in the high jump, which saw her record a personal best mark of 5' 8.75" (1.75m), also extending her top mark in the country. The Seneca, Ill. native was also a winner in the 400 meter race at 58.45, which stands as the sixth-fastest mark in school history.
Emma Seipel was victorious in the long jump with her mark of 19' 11.5" (6.08m), which leads all of Division III.
In the weight throw,
Caitlyn Cox and
Taylor Flaig finished first and second. Cox threw for 59' 2.25" (18.04m), while Flaig tossed for 55' 11.75" (17.06m).
Up next, the Duhawks will split the squad next weekend with some traveling to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and others traveling to UW-Platteville.
