INDIANOLA/PELLA, Iowa – The Loras College men's tennis team split a pair of American Rivers Conference matches this past Friday and Saturday on the road.

The Duhawks took down Simpson College 8-1 on day one, before falling to Central College 8-1 on day two.

Loras 8, Simpson 1

The Purple and Gold picked up wins with identical scores of 8-4 in both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches. Gage Becker and Thomas Kampmier defeated Javier Robles Solis and Grant Love in the No. 1 spot, while Sean Gelski and Andrew Day came out on top in the No. 2 spot against Drake Downard and Gavin Pate. Henry Condo and Diego Hernandez Arrazate were credited with the win at No. 3 doubles as the Storm were unable to provide competitors for the match.

Becker handled Robles Solis at No. 1 singles by scores of 7-5, 6-3, while Kampmier followed suit in the No. 2 spot with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Downard. Condo handed Pate a 6-0, 6-1 loss at No. 4 singles, while Hernandez Arrazate swept his opponent 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 spot. Day grabbed the final point of the match at No. 6 singles with a win by forfeit.

Loras 1, Central 8

The Duhawks were unable to secure a victory in doubles play, but tallied one win at No. 6 singles, while also forcing a tiebreaker in one match.

Loras contended in all three doubles matches, which included Becker and Kampmier sending their No. 1 doubles match into a tiebreaker. The pair ultimately came up short, falling 8-7 (8-6) to AJ Wilkins and Travis Subbert.

Day outlasted Alex Slaymaker in the No. 6 singles spot to come out on top by scores of 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9). Becker was competitive once again in his match at No. 1 singles, but in the end fell to Ayden Fletcher 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 0-1 (8-10).
