DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's tennis team fell, 6-3, to Nebraska Wesleyan University in its penultimate regular season match on Tuesday evening.
Gage Becker and
Thomas Kampmier picked up an 8-6 win over Ryan Carey and Jacob Balfany at No. 1 doubles to give the Duhawks their sole point of doubles play. The Purple and Gold trailed 2-1 heading into singles competition.
Becker outlasted Carey at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-2, 3-6, and 6-4, while
Sean Gelski did the same at No. 3 singles, holding off Ian Armbrust 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Samuel Cañas Guerrero,
Lucas Healy and
Andrew Day contended in their singles matches, each forcing extra points, but were unable to come out on top in the end.
