TEMPE, Ariz. – 13 members of the Loras College men's and women's tennis programs have been recognized as Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes, as released by the organization on Wednesday.
The seven student-athletes from the men's side include
Andrew Day,
Gage Becker,
Henry Condo,
Kareem Kassas,
Samuel Cañas Guerrero, Sean Gelski and
Thomas Kampmier, while
Caroline Hutchinson,
Clair Moore,
Dorothy Deans,
Ellie Kalina,
Jessie Yelaska and
Mary Breitbach represent the women's program.
In addition to the individual honors, both squads were tabbed as All-Academic Teams.
To be eligible for Scholar-Athlete status, a player must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the past academic year, while to earn the All-Academic Team award, a team must post a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
During the 2023-24 season, the women's program finished with a 3.67 cumulative team GPA, while the men concluded the school year with a 3.34 GPA.
The Duhawks return to the court for their 2024-25 campaigns at Saint Ambrose University on Saturday, Sept. 7 (women) and at the Cornell Invite on Sept. 15 (men).
