DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's soccer team earned a 2-2 draw against Carroll University on Saturday evening at the Rock Bowl.
The Duhawks opened the scoring early at the 5:40 minute mark when
Townes Robertson headed one into the back of the net off assists from
Dani Galiana Torres and
Reed Miklavcic.
The match would remain in favor of the Duhawks for the rest of the first half, but Carroll (3-1-3) gave itself a 2-1 advantage following a pair of goals early on in the second half. Both goals came from Marti Solanelles with the first occurring at 61:24, while the second was a penalty kick goal scored with 27 minutes left to play.
Loras (3-3-3) battled back and found a way to even things up at two a piece by way of
Cole Bridson, as he slotted one home past the keeper in the 66
th minute.
The matchup between the two squads was even, as the Duhawks tallied 18 shots, eight of which were on goal, compared to the Pioneers 17 shots, eight of which were also on goal.
Both
Kyle Gillingham and Jason Brunger recorded six saves for their respective teams on the night.
