DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Loras College men's soccer team stayed unbeaten with a 3-2 comeback win over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Wednesday night at the Rock Bowl, using two second-half goals to seal the deal.
UW-Whitewater (5-3-0) opened the scoring in the 13th minute, as Aidan Glancey finished off a setup from Cooper Re and Tyler Chrisman. The Duhawks (6-0-4) responded midway through the half when sophomore forward
Sep Heerkens brought one home in the 25th minute off a pass from
Julian Lopez, evening the match going into halftime.
The Warhawks regained the lead in the 55th minute when Mitchell Tackney converted on an assist from Mason Diercks, but the Purple and Gold ultimately got the last laugh. Senior forward
Dani Galiana Torres scored in the 71st minute on a connection from Heerkens to tie the game once again. A short six minutes later, Heerkens delivered the game-winner, securing his second goal of the night in the 77th minute to complete the rally.
Both sides finished with 15 shots, but Loras held the advantage with nine shots on goal compared to UW-Whitewater's six. Freshman
Alexander Drexler tallied four saves in goal for the Duhawks, while Thiago Vieira stopped six shots for the Warhawks.
