DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Loras College men's soccer team continued its strong start to the season with a 3–0 win over Simpson College on Saturday afternoon at the Rock Bowl.
The Duhawks (8-0-5, 2-0-2 A-R-C) controlled possession throughout and took the lead in the 22nd minute when
Gavin Pienkowski scored off a setup from
Joseph Sorce for his second goal of the season.
Loras doubled its advantage early in the second half as
Dani Galiana Torres found the back of the net in the 56th minute, assisted by
Cole Bridson and
Townes Robertson.
Sam Keen capped the scoring in the 71st minute with his first career goal to seal the win.
Alexander Drexler made four saves to earn the shutout, his fifth of the year as the Duhawks' defense limited Simpson (3-6-6, 0-3-1 A-R-C) to just seven total shots.
Loras outshot the Storm 19–7 and held an 11–2 advantage in corner kicks while posting its eighth win of the season.
Up next: The Duhawks host the Kohawks of Coe College on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
