DUBUQUE, Iowa - A second-half goal from Joseph Sorce lifted the Loras College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Coe College on Tuesday night at the Rock Bowl.
After a scoreless first half despite several quality chances, Sorce broke through in the 77th minute, slotting home a pass from Dominic Scandariato to put the Duhawks (9-0-5, 3-0-2 A-R-C) ahead for good. The goal marked Sorce's third of the season.
The Duhawks controlled much of the match, outshooting the Kohawks 22-9, including a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal, while also holding an 11-2 edge in corner kicks. Alexander Drexler secured his sixth shutout of the season with three saves, anchoring a defense that has allowed just two goals in the last five matches.
The Kohawks (4-5-4, 2-2-0 A-R-C) struggled to find clear scoring opportunities as Loras maintained possession throughout much of the contest.
