CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – A pair of Duhawks earned American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Athlete of the Week honors across two sports, the league office announced Monday.
In women's cross country,
Keelee Leitzen was named both the A-R-C Female Athlete of the Week and the Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after a standout performance at the conference championship. Leitzen made a strong statement in her A-R-C Championship debut, finishing first with a time of 21:24.1 to claim all-conference honors. She was also named the meet's Most Valuable Runner and Rookie of the Year following her performance.
Up next: The Duhawks will travel to Waverly, Iowa, for the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional hosted by Wartburg College. The race is scheduled for noon.
In men's soccer,
Dani Galiana Torres was named Offensive Player of the Week after scoring twice in Loras' 7-0 win over Simpson. His first goal stood as the game-winner, while his second came via penalty kick. Galiana Torres also added an assist, finishing the week with five points.
Up next: The Duhawks travel to Waverly, Iowa, to face No. 2-seeded Wartburg College in the A-R-C Tournament Semifinal on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
