Drexler Named Rookie of the Year to Lead Five Duhawks on All-Conference Team

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Five members of the Loras College men's soccer team earned American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) All-Conference honors, the league office announced Friday morning.

Freshman goalkeeper Alexander Drexler headlined the group, earning A-R-C Rookie of the Year honors after an impressive debut season. The High Ridge, Mo., native started 18 games, recording 74 saves with a 0.84 goals-against average and a .839 save percentage. Drexler led the conference in both goals-against average and saves.

Dani Galiana Torres collected his third career All-Conference selection to cap off an outstanding Duhawk career. The Madrid, Spain, native started every match for Loras, tallying 13 goals and three assists to lead the team with 29 points. Galiana Torres also topped the A-R-C in both goals and points.

Cole Bridson, a junior from Champlin Park, Minn., earned his second career All-Conference nod after starting all 19 games and contributing three goals and three assists for nine total points.

Three Duhawks, Drexler, Sep Heerkens and Joseph Sorce earned All-Conference recognition for the first time in their careers.

Heerkens, a sophomore from Tilburg, Netherlands, appeared in 18 games with six starts, scoring 10 goals and adding seven assists for 27 points. He ranked second in the A-R-C in goals, assists, and points.

Sorce, a freshman from Park Ridge, Ill., played in all 19 matches, notching four goals and seven assists for 15 total points.

Loras closed the season with an 11-2-6 overall record and a 4-1-3 mark in A-R-C play, advancing to the conference tournament semifinals.
