KANSAS CITY, Mo. –
Sierra Morgano of the Loras College women's soccer team and
Dani Galiana Torres of the Loras men's soccer team were named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Scholar All-North/Central Region teams, as announced Wednesday.
In her final season in the Purple and Gold, Morgano, a Sussex, Wis., native, earned American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) All-Conference honors and was named the A-R-C Defensive Most Valuable Player. She was also tabbed A-R-C Defensive Athlete of the Week. On the regional and national stage, Morgano garnered USC First Team All-Region recognition, was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honoree and earned USC Fourth Team All-America accolades. A business administration major with a 3.86 GPA, she was a key piece of a Loras defense that recorded 16 shutouts in 19 matches and allowed just six goals all season, ranking sixth nationally in goals-against average (.316).
On the men's side, Galiana Torres, a Madrid, Spain, native, also completed his final season as a Duhawk. The senior forward, a business administration and marketing major with a 3.87 GPA, led the Loras offense in goals, points and penalty kick goals, converting all three of his attempts. He also paced the A-R-C in goals and points. Galiana Torres earned All-Conference honors, was named a USC Third Team All-Region selection and was recognized as a CSC Academic All-District honoree.
