Story Links

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Loras College Duhawks put on a show Sunday afternoon, defeating the Simpson College Storm by a score of 86-56. Simpson (5-19, 2-13 A-R-C) never saw the lead, tying the score at the 17-minute mark in the first half, before a barrage of Duhawk offense took center stage.

The Duhawks shot 50 percent (20-of-40) from the floor in the first half, including a tick of 44 percent (8-of-18) from beyond the arc. Loras (16-7, 10-4) led nearly every statistic in the box score, including a staggering 29 points off turnovers, compared to Simpson's 10.

Leading the way for the Duhawks was Tyler Bass. The senior once again put on a clinic on both sides of the ball, logging nine rebounds, three steals, and 13 points. Fellow senior, Alex Singleton, came off the bench and was good for 14 points and six rebounds. As a team, Loras collectively grabbed 18 offensive boards, and put up 42 points in the paint.

The Storm were led by Bo Huston, who had 12 points as well as three assists. Matt Schubert was reliable on the defensive side for the Storm, grabbing seven rebounds, and tallying one block. As a team, Simpson was 38.2 percent (21-of-55) from the floor, and 29.2 percent (7-of-24) from three-point land.

Up Next: The Duhawks look to protect the nest as they play host to the Luther College Norse on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
