WAVERLY, Iowa – The Loras College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Wartburg College Last Chance Qualifier over the weekend at Hoover Fieldhouse.
On Friday, the men's distance medley relay team of Jacob Belha, Ian Fagan, Joe Franke and Carlo Dannenfelser took first place with a time of 9:57.18, ranking sixth in program history and sixth in Division III.
Freshman Maddie Mucci set the tone Saturday, winning the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 11.76 meters, placing her fourth in school history and 19th nationally.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Harmony Creasy, Layla Hughes, Elly Burds and Emma Seipel ran the eighth-fastest time in program history at 3:51.39, securing the No. 8 spot nationally. The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Ted Kruse, Franke, Fagan and Matt Kruse also posted a season-best time of 3:16.97, ranking 14th in the nation.
Several Duhawks delivered standout performances to close the indoor season. Becca Diddia set a personal record in the mile with a time of 5:05.56, placing eighth in program history.
In the women's 800 meters, Burds moved up to No. 2 in school history and 20th in the nation with a time of 2:13.04. Frankie Chaidez finished just behind at 2:13.08, ranking third in program history and 21st nationally.
Eliott Frideres capped off the meet with a lifetime best in the 800 meters, improving his No. 10 all-time mark in school history with a time of 1:54.05.
