STORM LAKE, Iowa — The Loras College men's tennis team returned to the win column Saturday morning with a 7–0 sweep over Buena Vista University at Buntrock Tennis Courts.
The Duhawks opened strong by sweeping doubles play. Diego Mejias and
Gage Becker earned a 6–3 win over Kaiden Depascale and Nick Niney.
Andrew Day and
Jackson Craig followed with a dominant 6–1 victory against Dalton Pregon and Brock Bruns, while Samuel Canas Guerrero and
Nick Carney capped off doubles play with a 7–5 win over Ryan Webb and Tyler Harger, giving Loras a 1–0 lead heading into singles.
Loras maintained its momentum in singles play, winning all six matches. Mejias defeated Depascale 6–2, 6–3 at the No. 1 spot, while Becker downed Pregon 6–1, 6–3 at No. 2. Canas Guerrero battled to a three-set win over Bruns at No. 3, 7–6 (7–1), 3–6, 10–5. At No. 4,
Lucas Healy shut out Niney 6–0, 6–0. Day earned a 6–3, 6–4 victory over Harger at No. 5, and Anthony Condo wrapped up the sweep with a 6–2, 6–3 win against Bryson Fredericksen at No. 6.
Up Next: Loras travels to face the University of Dubuque in a cross-town rivalry matchup on Wednesday, April 16. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
