Personal Bests and First Place Finishes Fuel Loras Momentum

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Loras College women's track and field team continued its strong outdoor season with a series of standout performances at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invitational.
 
Becca Diddia kicked off the weekend Friday night with a personal-best time of 17:27.92 in the 5,000-meter run—good for third all-time in program history and a 12-second improvement on her previous best. Teammates Bailey Vaughan and Natalia Wrobel also turned in major improvements, shaving 30 seconds off their personal records with times of 17:59.20 and 18:33.95, respectively.
 
Caitlyn Cox closed out Friday's competition with a first-place finish in the hammer throw, launching a mark of 56.30 meters.
 
Loras carried that momentum into Saturday. The 4x100-meter relay team of Harmony Creasy, Layla Hughes, Meghan McDonald and Emma Seipel posted a season best time of 47.00, which currently ranks eighth in NCAA Division III.
 
In the long jump, Seipel soared to 5.97 meters on her first attempt ranking second in the nation and later eclipsed the six-meter barrier with a final jump of 6.05 meters. She also has a top-15 mark nationally in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.57 which also ranks fifth in program history.
 
Creasy and Hughes continued the strong showing in the 400 meters. Creasy finished second in 58.04, while Hughes notched a personal best of 59.22.
 
Maddie Mucci topped the field in the triple jump with a mark of 11.69 meters, which sits seventh in program history and 13th in the nation. Sara Hoskins won the high jump with a clearance of 1.65 meters which is tied for 10th in all of Division III.
 
Up next: The Duhawks will host the Easter Midweek meet at Finnegan Family Track on Tuesday, April 15.
