Women's Track and Field Dominates at Home with Eight Victories and Honors Seniors

DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Loras College women's track and field team hosted its Easter Midweek meet Tuesday afternoon at the Rock Bowl, where the program also honored its senior class.

The Duhawks earned eight first-place finishes, highlighted by standout performances from Emma Seipel. Seipel won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.69 seconds, the second fastest time in both Division III and program history. She also placed first in the 200-meter dash at 24.36 seconds, ranking eighth in the nation and third in school history. Seipel added a win in the triple jump, posting a mark of 11.52 meters to move to eighth in program history.

Frankie Chaidez delivered a strong performance in the 1,500-meter run, setting a personal record with a time of 4:34.47, the fourth-fastest mark in Loras history.
Freshman Faith Banister posted personal records in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes, finishing the 100 in 13.11 seconds and placing fifth in the 200 with a time of 27.05.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Abby Pierce and Rachel Theis also recorded personal bests. Pierce placed third at 16.61 seconds, while Theis was fifth at 16.98. Pierce added another personal record in the 400-meter hurdles, taking second with a time of 1:11.67.

In the field events, Bridgette Smith set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 11.54 meters. Abby Horsfall followed with a personal record of her own in the discus at 36.75 meters.

Other first-place finishes included Bailey Vaughan in the 800-meter run (2:22.44), Caitlyn Cox in the hammer throw (56.03 meters), Sara Hoskins in the high jump (1.66 meters), and Maddie Mucci in the long jump (5.13 meters).

Up next: Loras will compete at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, from Thursday, April 24, through Saturday, April 26.
