Women's Track and Field Post Personal and Season Bests at Drake Alternative

WHITEWATER, Wis. — The Loras College women's track and field team turned in several standout performances Thursday at the Drake Alternative meet, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at the Rex Foster Track Complex.

The Duhawks recorded three personal records and two season-best marks. Kiki Pfeifer ran a personal-best 1:17.37 in the 400-meter hurdles to place ninth. Abby Horsfall set a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 11.02 meters, while Bridgette Smith added a personal best of 36.97 meters in the discus.

Season-best efforts came from Julia Klein in the 200-meter dash (26.49) and Audra Gallick in the discus (38.71 meters).

In a midweek competition, four Duhawks competed Wednesday at the Rittgers Invitational, hosted by Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In the 800-meter run, Olivia Carroll placed second in 2:43.18, and Emily Delamora finished fifth in 3:01.28. In the 3,000-meter run, Hunter Jones took second with a time of 11:21.24, followed closely by Sarah Gibson in third at 12:02.23.

Up next: Select athletes will compete at the Kip Janvrin Open on Friday, April 25, and continue action at the Drake Relays through Saturday, April 26.
